RECIPE: Shepherd's Pie

Congratulations, Prince William!

Perhaps one day you, too, can be a King.

With all the hullabaloo for tomorrow's British nuptials, I figured it was appropriate for Crock Pot Royalty to share a traditional British recipe.

So tomorrow morning, after you have watched the exchanging of the vows, before you hunker down to watch the arrival of the newlyweds at the reception, throw this recipe in your slow cooker and get ready for a dinner fit for a king... or a future king.

1 lb. of ground lamb (you could also use ground pork)

1 lb. of ground beef

1 medium onion, diced

1 14oz. can of diced tomatoes (drain excess liquid)

1 bag of frozen peas

2 tsp. dried oregano

2 tsp. garlic powder

salt and pepper to taste

3 tbs. quick-cooking tapioca

prepared mashed potatoes (as least 40 oz.) - Try Simply Potatoes brand!

  • Brown meat and onions in skillet with garlic powder, pepper, and salt

  • Combine all ingredients (except the potatoes) in the slow cooker

  • Cook on LOW for 8 hours

  • Top with potatoes

  • Cover and cook on LOW for an additional 30 minutes or until the potatoes are warm

  • ENJOY!
