RECIPE: Beef with Broccoli

It is always cool when you can replicate a "restaurant food" at home (especially in the 'ol crock). Beef and Broccoli on a bed of sticky white rice has always been one of my favorite Chinese Food Take Out dishes. This easy crock pot version came out terrific... a big hit! ... now if I could only figure out how to make crock pot crab rangoons.....

2 Lbs. chuck steak cut into strips (I used a boneless chuck roast)
1 can of beef consomme (hunt for consomme, stock wont cut it)
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1.5 lbs. broccoli florets (steamed)
3 tbs. sesame seeds

  • Place beef in slow cooker, cover with consomme and oyster sauce
  • Cook beef on HIGH for 3 hours
  • Remove 2 tablespoons of liquid, mix together with constarch
  • Add cornstarch mixture back into slow cooker and stir, creating a thicker "gravy"
  • Cook on HIGH an additional 15 minutes
  • Add broccoli, mix, and cook on HIGH for 10 additional minutes
  • Serve over white rice and serve with sesame seeds
  • ENJOY!

This is a great wine pairing for this meal... a SMOOTH RED from Oregon. Check it out.
